Crafting a Special Day: Mother’s Day Printables to Celebrate Mom

Look, mama, I know you're the one that usually manages every holiday and makes things special for your family. I know, too, that sometimes we have to set the stage and help our kids and spouses remember to make our day special.

So that's what I'm here to help you do! I've got some really fun, easy Mother's Day printables for you – everything from printable signs to color to paper bouquets to color and cut. I've also included some more simple ideas for Mother's Day activities to make your day super special.

What is a simple activity for Mother's Day?

Sometimes it's the simplest activities that bring the most joy.

After nearly 30 years of marriage I can tell you that the Mother's Days where I've thought about what would be the most fun and relaxing for me – and let everyone know that well in advance – have been the best days. Yeah, it would be great if everyone could read my mind, 😉 but I'd rather just set up the whole day for success by communicating what would make my heart happy.

Mama, what makes your heart happy? I've featured printables here because kid art is something I treasure. Maybe you love being out in nature, or seeing a movie together, playing board games or creating a fabulous meal.

Here are some more simple Mother's Day ideas for you!

  • Go out for a special brunch. Include mimosas.
  • Ride bikes or take a hike together and enjoy nature.
  • Pack a picnic, grab a frisbee or kite and visit a local park.
  • Have a family movie night. Get Instacart to bring your favorite snacks.
  • Take a day trip to a nearby town and try a new restaurant or shop at a new store!

What can I make out of paper for Mother's Day?

I have a couple of really fun Mother's Day crafts printables for you – they are fun, inexpensive (all you need is a printer, paper, and something to color with) and make perfect kid gifts for Mother's Day! These also make great Mother's Day gifts for the grandmas, aunts, and other women in your kids' lives!

SPRING FLOWER ORIGAMI PRINTABLES

If you have kids who love to tackle a challenge, these Spring Flower Origami instructions will bring a burst of color and life to any space! You'll get instructions to create 8 different paper flowers including:

  • Tulip, rose, sunflower
  • Carnation, morning glory, lily
  • Japonica (camellia), rose

You'll have a whole garden's worth of beauty at your fingertips!

You'll need to get some origami paper to make these flowers! Regular paper is too thick. Your local craft store (JoAnns or Michaels) should have origami paper, or you can find lots of different kinds on Amazon!

In addition to the flowers, you'll also get 3 different leaves to fold to accompany them. These leaves are the perfect complement to the flowers, and will add depth and dimension to your bouquet.

Note: there is one flower (the tulip) that is beginner level and could work for younger fingers, but the majority of these origami projects are intermediate level for older kids.

BUILD A FLOWER BOUQUET PRINTABLES

If origami isn't something your kids are into, check out this fun Build a Flower Bouquet set! The set includes cut and color pages for nine different flowers, including daisies, daffodils, lilies, lotuses, sunflowers, orchids, roses, asters, and lavender.

The flowers are beautifully hand drawn. With so many different flowers to choose from, you can create a unique paper flower bouquet that will be a wonderful gift for mom.

This set also includes full-color pages, making it a breeze to create a beautiful bouquet with just a little bit of cutting and pasting.

These are really fun! I took them to a recent homeschool gathering and the kids each chose a flower and used markers and crayons. Then they cut them out, pasted them onto a plain sheet of paper, and laminated them!
